Home Decor Ideas by Postfossil

Home Decor by Postfossil - Shoes, Books and a Bike

Zurich-based design collective Postfossil has two interesting ideas for the home that we were drawn to. The first is called “Shoes, Books and a Bike” – and is a display shelf for exactly that – some books, some shoes, but most of all the bike. Those who are avid cyclists can have a place in the house where the bike can be properly displayed, and not just stored. The bike can be set in place with a clamp (sold separately). The shelf is constructed from pine and coconut fiber. Designed by Thomas Walde.

Home Decor by Postfossil - For Seasons Cutting Board and Trivet

The other is a set of three cutting boards and a trivet called “For Seasons” designed by Anna Blattert. It is said that the materials and format have been chosen appropriately to what is in season. So here are the four pieces:

  • Spring – made of light maple wood. The large board is made to cut spinach or serve the first asparagus in late spring.
  • Summer – made of dense cherry wood. The thick, solid board is ideal to chop rich and juicy harvests of the summer months.
  • Autumn – made of pear. This small eating/cutting board is perfect to serve a cheese plate with fresh pears or grapes.
  • Winter – made of cork. This protects the table from even the hottest pot of soup made of winter vegetables.
  • The backside of each board includes an engraved list of all vegetables and fruits that are seasonal in this time of the year.
